The Challenge
Despite progressive reforms in the UAE, women-led startups still face significant barriers: only 1.2% of regional venture funding reaches them, and 70% of their loan applications are rejected. For many, mobility is not just about transport; it is the critical link between idea and execution, determining whether their business can grow or remain stagnant. Nissan X AWR identified this underrepresented, high-potential audience excluded from traditional financing systems and tapped into their underlying potential to break through an over-commoditized market and stagnating fleet sales.
The Solution
Nissan and Arabian Automobiles launched URVENTURES, a groundbreaking mobility-for-equity model that revolutionized fleet sales. Instead of selling vans, they offered fully branded Nissan URVANs to women-led startups in exchange for a small equity stake (5-10%) in their future business potential – no loans, no debt, just shared belief. Combining CRM insights, sector-specific targeting, and a mentorship-backed accelerator approach, URVENTURES transformed vans from depreciating assets into growth platforms. The result was not just business transformation but a redefinition of what mobility can unlock, doubling B2B acquisition, driving societal impact with over 30 ventures in the pipeline, and embedding Nissan at the heart of an inclusive, purpose-driven ecosystem.
